“Let's talk of a system that transforms all the social organisms into a work of art, in which the entire process of work is included... something in which the principle of production and consumption takes on a form of quality. It's a Gigantic project.” – Joseph Beuys

ZeDay is in a new class of ritual with neither specific cultural, religious nor patriotic roots. It is all inclusive. There are no barriers to participation. It’s easily accessible for everyone. Participation promises to benefit everything and everyone.

ZeDay has 4 simple guidelines.
The first is go cold turkey.

1. Don’t use or burn oil or gas or coal.
Think about all the activities you can do without using fossil fuels.
There are a lot! Parked cars might become les objet’dart...
Auto exhaust and cars as art objects

The idea is to actually stop the run-away train of civilization. If there are no passengers there will be no train.

We’re pausing for reflection.
Runaway trains

We ‘re talking about giving our world a much needed break and banking 80+ million barrels of oil.
If we can do this even a little the whole world will take note.
ZeDay isn’t necessarily about global warming. Our over consumption of the earth’s resources is reason enough to taking a break -- no matter which side of the climate change debate you find yourself on.

This is a rare opportunity to clear the air so to speak.

Our world would enjoy a pristine quiet. and a chance to reset all its operating systems.

Zero Emissions Day Guideline 2
Minimize (or eliminate) your use of electricity generated by fossil fuels.

We normally have so much power at our fingertips but at what cost exactly?

ZeDay is about being practical: Don't put anyone in harms way.

We’re cutting back to essential services.
What’s essential can be debated...
But currently we tend to feel – all our energy use – is essential.
Therefore the need to go back to basics – just for a day.

ZeDay opens up space, and stops the spin. Your likely to find yourself yearning to fill up the space somehow especially if your daily life includes lots of media inputs. The first two ZeDay guidelines create a boundary which our minds will bump up against again and again. Just being aware of this is sufficient.

The big challenge is not so much the technology and its implementations as it is our attitude.

If we’re the drivers of evolution and the biosphere now, wouldn’t it be a good idea to touch base with our awareness about it all?
Planet Earth

We’re told our brains are the most sophisticated in the universe.
That’s something!

We’ve been granted this incredible intelligence and it’s really adaptable.

“Without mindfulness, we become blind to the internal reality at the heart of our lives. If the leaders of a culture are themselves devoid of mindfulness, then the young, emerging minds of that culture will be living in a world in which the blind are leading the blind.”

ZeDay is deeply personal. Everyone will have there own experience. You can go it alone if you like.
Or find a friend you can spend the day with.

And at some point in the day reach out to others to discuss your concerns. Relax, Listen, Play.

The movie La Belle Verte (The Green Beautiful) by Coline Serreau paints a compelling vision of what ZeDay might become.
